#162 Cleanup of "Elections" FAS group
Closed: approved Opened by jkurik.

As a follow up from the discussion I had with @bex, I would like to have Council's approval to clean up Elections FAS group. As people in this group can see result of elections before these are published and can also manipulate with setting of the voting machine, the number of people should be limited to a necessary minimum. The current proposal is to have only these people in the Elections FAS group:

  • Election wrangler (currently me @jkurik )
  • Fedora Action and Impact Coordinator as Election wrangler substitute (currently @bex )
  • Fedora Project Lead (currently @mattdm )

All the three proposed people in this FAS group should have "administrator" privileges. In case of a need, anyone from these three people can temporarily add someone to the group to solve an issue/task/...

I thought this was already set to those people....

+1

+1, but I strongly believe this ticket should be public to promote transparency around the Elections process.

I don't want to be difficult, but I think this ticket needs to be public. I won't be present for the Council meeting this week and I don't want this ticket to be closed as a private ticket.

I change my vote to -1 if the ticket remains private. If it is changed to a public ticket, my vote is +1.

+1 for proposal and public ticket

Making the ticket publicly available.

I am +1. Thanks @jkurik!

@mattdm : As you are the only administrator of the Elections FAS group from the three of us (Wrangler, FAIC, FPL) may I ask you please to do the cleanup as agreed ?

Done. However, @pfrields is the owner of the group and I can't change that. Paul, can you give the group to me or @bex? Probably @bex.

I was added to this group a little while back to be able to help debug things in the production instance.

Note that as sysadmin-main I also have access to the DB, so the privacy angle applies anyway for me :)

@pingou Seems reasonable to me. Anyone object?

@pingou I assume "user" level in that group is sufficient?

@pingou I assume "user" level in that group is sufficient?

Most definitely, I have no need to sponsor anyone or edit group settings.

Thanks @mattdm .I do not have any objection to have someone from the Infra team in the group to help to solve potential technical issues with the voting app. So, having @pingou here is fine from my POV.

Not sure my approval is needed, but so it isn't a blocker, I am also +1 to @pingou and to @pfrields transferring ownership to me.

Group is cleaned up (with pingou added back). Closing this as approved and @pfrields can transfer ownership whenever.
