#261 Community openshift domain selection
Closed: resolved 5 years ago by jperrin. Opened 5 years ago by jperrin.

As we stand up the community openshift for fedora, we'd like a decision on the domain the apps will fall under. If it's possible to have a decision soon on this it would be appreciated, as this does impact deployment and readiness time.

fedorainfracloud.org

  • PRO: Is what we have setup now.
  • MIXED: Might confuse some people about it being a community place, but
we have been using it for that for a while.
  • PRO: Can migrate things like copr without needing to change the domain
    name.

fedoracommunity.org

  • CON: is an existing website pointing to regional sites.
  • PRO: sounds more 'community' ornted.
  • CON: would require a reinstall most likely.

fedoraplayground.org

  • PRO: more 'community' type domain.
  • CON: playground sounds like apps here are not important or useful,
    just play.
  • CON: would require a reinstall.

I think sticking with fedorainfracloud.org is best

+1 to FedoraInfraCloud. Will this contain all Fedora apps?

+1 FedoraInfraCloud, -1 to the others. The it's still Fedora infra, even if it's not run by Fedora Infra™.

Same vote from me

Huh. For what it's worth, really don't like fedorainfracloud.org, but not enough to veto it. I do think the distinction between the new "CPE" name and Fedora Infrastructure helps a bit.

Also, I'm easily swayed by "would not require a reinstall" given the work overload on the team.

For what it's worth, I think the CONs on the alternatives outweigh the potential benefits of a switch. I worry that core/existing users would pay the highest price.

+1 fedorainfracloud.org, -1 to the others.

It's been almost two weeks and I count the vote as (+4, 1, -0) in favor of keeping fedorainfracloud (I'm reading @mattdm's ambiguous vote as a 0) and unanimous rejection of the other options.

I think you have your answer, @jperrin.

Yup. WFM. Thanks everyone.
