#34 Trademark permission request for the "Fedora Bootstrap" project
Closed: Fixed None Opened 9 years ago by jcapik.

Hello.

This February we resurrected a project called "Fedora Bootstrap", that was started approximately 4-5 years ago. We requested an authorized logo since the former one didn't follow the trademark guidelines and then wanted to announce the project as Fedora affiliated, but according to Kevin Fenzi and Matthew Miller there might be a problem with the project name itself as it contains the word "Fedora". The purpose of the project is to cure Fedora specific bootstrap issues and it can not be used for other distros. Therefore changing the name just because of the legal stuff seems insane to me. Matt adviced me to request trademark permission here.

The project homepage is at http://fedora-bootstrap.osop.rhcloud.com/

Please, let me know whether we can keep the name and announce the homepage AS IS, or whether we need to do tweaks.

Thanks in advance.

Best regards,
Jaromir Capik.

+1 (approve trademark usage)

I think this naming is highly likely to clear Red Hat Legal (as I've stated in direct correspondence with Jaromir). I've put in the review request with RH Legal, but it likely won't happen for at least two weeks because of the Red Hat Summit.

Thanks, Tom.
Have you received any response from RH Legal?

Thanks guys. I just signed the Fedora Trademark License with Erin Campion from RH Legal and this ticket can be closed.
