#537 Fedora to join the End of 10 campaign
Closed: approved by amoloney. Opened by joseph.

Folks from the End of 10 campaign have reached out to see if the Fedora Project would like to be a part of this. This is a cross-project movement in the open source world to capitalize on the end of Windows 10 support in October 2025 with the intention to move people to Linux.

I think this is a great project for us to be part of as the campaign's values line up with our values of Friends and Features. Friends as in we would be working with our open source friends to help our Windows 10 friends move to an OS that will remain supported. Features in that Fedora Linux will continue to support many of these devices which would otherwise lose important security patches.

I am request approval for the Marketing Team to work with the End of 10 campaign because doing so would mean that the Fedora logo will be on their website. We need to approve their use of our trademark.

Below is a link to the website. We can pass along any questions to clarify what is needed in order to approve or decline this request. Thanks for your consideration!

So it looks like the endof10 campaign pages have materially changed since the last time I looked at them. Or I could be going a touch senile.

Either way, just to make it clearer for me at least, is the request scoped to just adding Fedora to the list of supporters on the front page or is there something more being asked?

+1 to add our logo there

Adding more details on the request below from the organizer:

What does becoming a supporting organization mean, exactly?

First, the campaign will list you on our website and reference you in
our outreach.

Second, we encourage you to link to the campaign on your website,
announce support in your newsletters, co-ordinate with us in media
outreach, and otherwise make sure users are aware there are excellent
alternatives in Free & Open Source Software.

@joseph

Just a small follow up with regard to process, I'm new forgive me,
Is marketing planning/anticipating doing additional yet to be decided co-branded media outreach?

I just want to clarify the scope of the trademark usage ask here.
Are we being asked for trademark approval just for the website sponsor list specifically, or i this a request for use of the trademark more broadly in anticipation of several pieces of outreach collateral?
Asked another way, if there is additional marketing material making use of the sponsor logos created in the future will we need to approve that, or is this request meant to address that as well?

Maybe @jflory7 could share his thoughts here, but I this request is for this specific trademark usage, but as the campaign continues I wouldn't be surprise if other things came up where they would like to use our logo. It would all be in the name of Fedora being part of this movement to get folks on to Linux after the Windows 10 EOL.

Hello, following up again on this ticket. Is there anything more I can clarify before getting the yay or nay on officially participating in this campaign?

Hi @joseph , we discussed this at todays council meeting and have officially approved the following:

** The Fedora Project will participate the End of 10 campaign, and grants the use of the projects logo on the web page that lists what distributions support this. For any further use of the Fedora Projects logo associated with this campaign, please file this as a request to the Fedora Council. **

We would appreciate if you could keep an eye on this campaign as Fedora Marketing, and please let us know if you need anything else from the council by either reopening this ticket or filing a new one if there is a different but related request.
