Hey,
I live in Campinas/SP/Brasil, and I would like to request funding from the Fedora Project to pay the flight tickets to go to FISL 14. I will handle the accommodations myself, so there will be no need for funding with that.
1 - How do you currently collaborates with Fedora?
I am currently the Media Wrangler for Brasil, the co-maintainer of the Fedora GDB package, and the default owner of every Trac ticket filed for Brasil. I am also involved in local Free Software activities (related or not to Fedora), including the organization of Install Fests (I have organized 2 Fedora Install Fests this year), talking about Fedora (two events this year, one last year), and so on.
I do many more things, but I guess what I described above is enough, considering that I have been an Ambassador since the end of last year.
2 - What are your plans for the FISL?
I have 4 proposed presentations:
=== !LibrePlanet: missão "São Paulo" ===
This is a presentation about a Free Software group that I founded in my city/state. It is not (directly) related to Fedora.
=== Encontro Comunitário do !LibrePlanet São Paulo ===
A gathering on behalf of the group mentioned above. Not related to Fedora either (though we may mention it).
=== Curso Básico de GDB ===
Crash course to teach the basics about the GNU Debugger. Related to Fedora because I will mention some features present on Fedora GDB, and will basically teach how to use the debugger using a Fedora GDB.
=== Integrando GDB e !SystemTap na depuração de aplicativos ===
A more advanced talk intended to discuss the implementation of the integration between GDB and !SystemTap, which I developed primarily for Fedora and is now upstream. This talk is also related to Fedora.
=== Other things ===
I will participate in the Fedora gathering that will happen during the event, helping new users to install and use Fedora, explaining its features and details, etc.
3 - What is the value of the subsidy required (in U.S.) and how it will be used?
It is important to notice that the price below refers to April 22nd 2013. It can increase (probably) or decrease depending on many things.
Considering US$ 1 = R$ 2,01:
Round trip ticket to FISL: US$ '''318,46''' / R$ '''640,50'''
This ticket will be discussed in the next LATAM meeting, this Wednesday, May 8th, on #fedora-latam, at 19h30min (Brasília). Your presence is necessary. Thanks.
Updating the price for today's meeting:
'''R$ 654,50''' / '''US$ 327,16'''

Sergio, you're still can have it even after leaving as being an ambassador in the official program.

''' NO ONE IS PROHIBITED FROM ASKING FOR SPONSORSHIP.'''
All right, I am reopening this ticket since I think it is fair enough to be sponsored by Fedora. I will buy my flight tickets today and will post the receipt ASAP.
