I am editing this ticket as a follow-up to our last LATAM Ambassador meeting on Saturday in order to go to CONECIT 2017.
- Deleting the ballons request because @chinosoliard expressed that he was sick of that
- Deleting the Fedora 26 DVDs to prize 200 people (1000 students aprox in the event) and follow the recommendation of @richzendy in telling the students to download ISO if they want to install Fedora.
- Deleting the t-shirts and dinner for Fedora + GNOME local community because they do not have still Fedora Wikis (it is pending the CLA approval, so far, I've asked @potty about this)
- Deleting the stickers also because there is not a formal approval that Fedora has to be in the same sticker with GNOME for this workshop as Fedora + GNOME workshop at CONECIT 2017.

I am adding a request to go CONECIT because I am going to do a Key Note.
There are only two Key Notes approved regarded Linux IT, Maddog from USA and Julita Inca from Peru.

1.- What is the focus of the event from a Fedora point of view?

It is an IT event that congregates around 1000 among students and professionals in the Computer Science and engineering fields.

It is a great opportunity to show HPC projects that run on Fedora. From my experience, I have seen that students are afraid that Fedora can damage devices such as ports of USB and many other issues that have faced such as hibernation or dual boot settings since UEFI. We can help them to solve or guide them to the appropriate links since all the information on the Web are not updated. I think that when they noticed that we show it is easy to do things, they can be contagious too to solve their own issues.

2.- How does our attendance at this event build users of or contributors to the Fedora platform overall?

There are no Fedora communities in the jungle, nor in Tingo Maria, neither neighbour provinces in Peru. Universities from all the provinces of Peru are going to attend and, talk about Fedora is not so common there. From our experience we can explain how to start and why is important. I can present the GSoC program for students and it is a requirement to prove contributions to the project to be selected. 3.- How does our attendance at this event build users of or contributors to specific Fedora solutions — and why are those particular solutions strategically important?

Issues and solutions in Fedora are not so much documented as it is in Ubuntu. I have noticed that more hands are needed for workaround to use some softwares that are used for students such as modules in python (Pycharm) and wifi connection (drivers). Plugins and tools are not so much popular as it is in other Operating Systems.

4.- How will success be measured? If the event doesn't meet its benchmarks, how will we adjust?

You can measure by the number of downloading of the iso in that region. We are going to have an installation workshop and then a user usability session for three hours.
Since I will have the opportunity to meet leaders of different universities, I will exert them to share in their local communities that a Linux project such Fedora with its wiki is a good start to contribute to FLOSS as a training to professional life after university. I think connection time to the wiki, can be also measure.
