The ISA SIG would like to do CentOS Stream 10 image mode images. This would allow testers to flip between a generic CS10 image and their layered/changed image. This would require a generic image created. The generic image should come from the Alt Images SIG.
Can we create Image Mode images in the CentOS SIG space? If we can, where would we put these images?
I can't see why not!
(Well, if you can figure it out technically of course.)
Publishing them to quay.io/centos/centos would make sense to me. Right now the only active images are the Stream ones, built by the CS Team in Red Hat. But I'm sure SIG content could go there as well? (We should ask the board. Oh! Hi @tdawson !)
We could also look into building them ourselves (CS team). But if the SIG wants to make them, I'd be happy with that, and happy to help
It turns out that Red Hat is publishing a CentOS Stream bootc image. https://quay.io/repository/centos-bootc/centos-bootc that is being generated from here https://gitlab.com/redhat/centos-stream/containers/bootc
That doesn't mean we can't create our own bootc images, just that there is no need to create generic ones.
Closing this. The investigation is done.
