#345 Request for Logo to represent and promote Fedora in Singapore
Closed: Fixed None Opened 10 years ago by erqiyang.

Am requesting a logo for Singapore Ambassador use.

We have socialmedia handle as "fedora.sg", as well as domain name of similar name.

".sg" is the TLD for Singapore.

Hence, we are looking at simple addition of ".sg" to the infinity design logo, as it is clean and neat way to represent the activity done in Singapore.

taking this one - no activity in 7 weeks, i'm familiar with the fedora location logo template.

Hi erqiyang, I'm attaching the standard Fedora+Location logo design. We don't usually do things like adding ".sg" to the infinity logo because we try to standardize the logos to help protect our trademarks (See https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Logo/UsageGuidelines#Fedora_Sub-Logos:_Standard_uses_of_the_Fedora_Logo_with_other_elements)

Will this work for you?

Hi duffy,

Thanks for working on this.

I'm not quite sure I interpreted your message right. Essentially, the logo is similar to what I'm looking for, except, instead of the long word "Singapore", would like to have it shortened to ".sg" instead.

This is also a reference to the domain name as well as social media handle that we are using for local activity.

Also, is it possible to have the output in a .svg format?

Regards,
Qiyang

Hi Qiyang - the Fedora trademark guidelines don't allow us to do .sg, the logo has to have the full name of the country. If you want a formal OK to do this, you need to ask the Fedora Council since they maintain Fedora's trademark - can you open a ticket in their trac to ask for permission to have a .sg mark, and refrence this ticket please?

Ah... That is complicated.

In that case, can I have the one you did above, but in .svg format?

I'll discuss with the other local ambassador in singapore and see if we can proceed with this.

Regards,
Qiyang

Hi Qiyang - just so i can understand the context, why do you need it in SVG? SVG isn't print ready (you would need a CMYK PDF version for that) and I am happy to export to whatever size you need.

Hi Duffy,

We are planning to use the logo on print/web, etc. Having them in SVG makes it easier for us to resize it without having to come back to you too frequently.

I'm hoping there's no policy against that as well?

Regards,
Qiyang

The reason we have designers responsible for logo production is that it keeps the logos from being resized, altered, or used inaccurately, even inadvertently. The designers should simply produce an assortment of sizes you can use in varying media. If you need a different format or size, it can be provided pretty quickly. Also, a PNG can be provided that's large enough to be sized down for one-off use.

Are there sizes or formats you particularly need in that initial batch?

Hi Qiyang, it's been a couple of weeks - can you help us understand the formats you need?

Hi Duffy,

Apologies for late reply.

Ideally, svg format would be good, as that can provide us quick turn around time to get logo to the size we require.

However, if that's not possible at all, can we have one logo that's 200px wide for a start? (including the required clear space around the logo).

Regards,
Qiyang

Also, in addition, Singapore has just lost it's founding father, and we are in a week of mourning. All major organisation has greyscaled their logo as a mark of respect. If possible, can we also have a grey scaled version for use this week?

Regards,
Qiyang

200 px version of logo (with clearspace)

Here is a 200px wide version (including clearspace):

Actually the small vesrion I already sent you is 204 px, but I made this one 200 exactly.

Here is a grayscale version (also 200px):

Here is a larger full color version in case you need it:

I'm going to close this ticket out, but if you need any changes or more sizes or what not, feel free to reopen or open a new ticket (whatever is easiest for you.)
