Gave this a whirl, feedback?

alternative version with snakes not diagonal

I did this just for fun to prove it could be done, it turned out to be much more of a pain than I thought it would be lol.

Wow this looks cool!

only think I suggest is that we use our fedora font [[Image(https://fedoraproject.org/w/uploads/2/2d/Logo_fedoralogo.png)]]

and may be little bit of python's own icon [[Image(http://www.python-course.eu/images/python-logo.png)]]

Also heart could be in red

I don't have any experience in designing, so ignore me if I say something wrong

so we don't use the logo font in any materials; the logo font is Bryant2 and it's actually proprietary (historical reasons.) Our official headline font is Montserrat and the copy font is Open Sans, and those are both used respectively here.

I was looking to avoid using the python trademark because what we're trying to do with it here it outside the bounds of their trademark usage granted permissions and we'd have to get an explicit okay to do that from the PSF.

My general feedback is that this looks amazing! I definitely prefer the diagonal snake logo on the front. I also like the idea of making the heart pop with red.

I can make changes to the text now that the core design is set, if that's okay.

I don't know the deadlines exactly. I was told to have this done by the end of the month. I will query the Marketing team at tonight's meeting and get this updated.

Text updated, new files attached.

Hi all, few comments about things I noticed:

  • '''outer: "Learn more at:"'''
  • This should probably be https://getfedora.org/ instead of http://www.fedoraproject.org. Even though it redirects, it's probably more accurate to use the domain you are redirected to versus the fedoraproject.org domain. The QR code may need to be updated too.
  • '''outer: Python questions? Wiki page'''
  • Linking to the wiki page here might be a good idea too since a lot of information about how to help / get involved is included here.
  • '''inner: Get Fedora'''
  • The URL used is get.fedoraproject.org. Should probably be https://getfedora.org/
  • '''inner: Mentioning DevAssistant'''
  • DevAssistant is a popular tool to help get development workspaces set up and ready to go, saving time from having to prepare a workspace environment. Based on feedback received on the list and also at events, I think making mention of DevAssistant somewhere in the brochure is a good idea as well.

Updated brochures with latest feedback

fwiw I had the QR code point to fedoraproject.org/wiki/Python

That will work; it redirects. Thanks!

+1 from a non-Pythonista.

Might also be a good idea to upload the new revision to the [https://fedorahosted.org/marketing-team/ticket/219 Marketing ticket] too, so that way some of the other Python contributors can get a final look at it too.

Done!

Hey bproffit, do you need a version prepped for professional printing at this point? (eg CMYK)

Final content for brochure is ready at https://fedorahosted.org/marketing-team/ticket/219 - time to prep this for print. (Removing block as we've got the infos.)

In that case, i would also change the written URL to be the same. 1) for consistency, 2) to be shorter and easier to remember/retype.

Preview (inner pages reworked extensively, thanks to bkp for proofreading)

Hey all! As I said in the Marketing ticket, nice work to everyone involved on this, the brochures came out awesome!! Appreciate the time and effort everyone put into this, even with the last minute push. The brochures have been sent off to the printing press and should be produced in time for PyCons across the world.

churchyard had a few extra comments to point out that might be worth changing before putting the brochure on the shelf for later, for future copies that may be printed. He pointed out a few minor typos that aren't showstoppers for the rounds hitting the press, but it would be nice to correct them in the source files anyways.

Replying to [comment:40 churchyard]:

Thanks, it looks great!

Some typos:

Pypy -> PyPy

PyPy is written in python -> Python

Fedora Python Porting database -> Fedora Python 3 Porting Database (notice both capital D and number 3)

to porting Python 2 packages to Python3 -> Python 3

I've marked those with green in:

His highlighted changes are shown here:

We'd like to print some for EuroPython, can we please get a corrected version? Lat's say in a month? Thank you.

Hi, we want to produce the flier here in Europe. Can someone please adjust it to A4 and provide it ideally as print PDF?

I've got info from the vendor: It doesn't matter if it's CMYK or RGB (both works for them), profile should not be included in the file and bleed should be 2-3mm.

Attached is everything updated with churchyard's edits for US Letter. Will take a little more time to do the A4 conversion (it's a manual process.) Will hopefully get that to you by tomorrow. Sorry for the delay, and thank you for the reminder ping.

Hi eischmann, should be set with the A4 + Bleeds version above! Closing ticket, please reopen if needed!
