#182 Notification sent for meeting that doesn't exist
Opened 4 years ago by catanzaro. Modified 2 years ago

I have a recurring meeting that generally occurs once per week, but with certain exceptions configured: https://apps.fedoraproject.org/calendar/meeting/9651/

We are skipping two weeks of meetings over the holidays, and the meeting calendar correctly reflects that. The first week, everything went fine. But the second week, we received a calendar notification one day before the normal meeting date, even though no meeting is scheduled on that date: https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/desktop@lists.fedoraproject.org/thread/FVOR5KHFMD7EVQLRPE3PENZB7SCXQU2Z/

This notification should not have been sent. I don't know why it was sent the second week but not the first week. Normally it only sends notifications when there is actually a meeting scheduled at that time.

OK, now we've moved the meeting to Tuesday, but we're still receiving notifications for Monday:

This is pretty unfortunate. I guess fedocal is just going to keep sending us meeting notifications indefinitely. I've just deleted the meeting and all future instances of the meeting (even though it doesn't exist on the calendar, it's still accessible through the link in the reminder mail) and I guess we can see if that fixes it or not.

The source at the bottom there refers to: https://apps.fedoraproject.org/calendar/meeting/9625/ which looks to be scheduled for Mon, January 20, 2020 - 14:00 UTC, so the reminder looks legitimate.

Same thing for the first reminder which links to https://apps.fedoraproject.org/calendar/meeting/9651/ scheduled for: Start: Mon, December 30, 2019 - 14:00 UTC.

But it is surprising indeed that both do not appear on: https://apps.fedoraproject.org/calendar/list/workstation/

Ah https://apps.fedoraproject.org/calendar/meeting/9625/ has: This meeting is recurrent, it occurs every 14 days until 2020-01-06 which is likely what prevents it from showing in the UI.

So there is likely a bug in the logic of the cron indeed.

But it is surprising indeed that both do not appear on: https://apps.fedoraproject.org/calendar/list/workstation/

They don't appear in the calendar anymore because I previously deleted all future occurrences of the meeting, probably twice now, since it doesn't want to stay dead. Let's call them zombiemeetings. :)
