#780 Badge for the Fedora Community Outreach Task Force
Closed: fixed 3 years ago by riecatnor. Opened 4 years ago by sayaksarkar.

Badge description (like "You added a co-maintainer to a package. BFF!"):

You helped in revamping the Fedora Ambassadors program as a Fedora Community Outreach Task Force member!

Help the badges team understand what this idea is all about. If this badge is
awarded for certain kinds of activities:

1) What are those activities?

implement Fedora Ambassadors/Commops revamp by volunteering to be a member of the Temporary Task Force at: https://pagure.io/mindshare/issue/227

2) Who is doing them (are they packagers? translators? newcomers? veterans?
users? sponsors?)
-
Community members who have volunteered at https://pagure.io/mindshare/issue/227

3) Why are they doing them (is this a means to a different end?)

To help with the process of revamping the Fedora Ambassadors program

4) When do they do them (every day? once a year?)

2020

5) How do they do them (by talking in IRC? by running commands in the console?
by using a web interface?)

https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Fedora_Ambassadors_Revamp_2020

Lastly, do you have any ideas for artwork concepts?

Not yet.

Another random idea: We can also create another badge for TTF meeting attendees.

Hi @viv this is so cute!! I love it. A couple suggestions to help improve..

  1. The template seems off, bring the artwork into a new template :)

  2. We try to avoid using the fedora logo if possible. I'd like to explore some other concepts for something we can put in the middle based around community.. Maybe we can remove it completely? I was trying to google for some imagery, didn't find much. This is kind of a cool concept: https://previews.123rf.com/images/tul/tul1509/tul150900070/45879403-social-community-vector-flat-logo-design.jpg can we somehow translate that to your artwork?

Hi @riecatnor,
this is my attempt on this badge, the concept of puzzle seemed relevant to the different communities coming together and making it a success solution. Please do give me your feedback.
Thanks.

Hi @gulnart thanks for starting work on this badge :) This badge actually has some pretty strong artwork to work with, found here: https://pagure.io/fedora-badges/issue/780#comment-697894

Note I left comments for improvements here: https://pagure.io/fedora-badges/issue/780#comment-698774

Please also review the Fedora Badges resources and guidelines:

hey! I took reference from your comment @riecatnor and came up with this.
Please let me know how is it looking. I have some fresh ideas too and maybe we can explore those if this isn't upto the mark.

Hi @riecatnor @sayaksarkar, I designed the badge below following the corrections stated earlier. I admired @viv design and thought to improve on the concept. So the panda paws in unity (team-work) with the chat bubble logo - symbolizing the outreach, getting people talking, and doing that as a team; the color of each panda paw is different from the chat bubble - this symbolizes the flow of information and all these put together brings forth the flag (in fedora blue) with a 'number 1" - this symbolizes the goal and purpose of the outreach/ Fedora Ambassadors program, which is to promote Fedora.

I'm open to corrections, kindly review. Thank you.

Tried working on this badge! I've built on @viv 's design, switched the background, and tried adding a different element in the middle. I was going for a 'people from all over the world' vibe. I have one option with and one without. How's it looking?

I read your previous comment on the original draft again and realised I interpreted it in a wrong way. I tried another iteration keeping it simple based on your initial comment.

Hey peeps! Thanks for all the great work here :) comments below

@yavnikaa your second round is definitely closer to what we are looking for :) nice work! Just one note for you:
- I like it as is, there is an issue with the file sizing/templates tho. Make sure you are using the correct template, make no changes to the template graphics, and export at 256x256 pixels.

@mahnoor123 wow this is a cool design! Unfortunately it doesn't really fit the badges aesthetic tho, and the middle part is very busy. you could try to re-imagine this concept with badges motifs, like pandas?

@somya23 whoa, panda party :D this is really cute, but it is has way too much going on. Try simplifying the concept, maybe reduce to 2 or 3 pandas? Looking forward to your next draft.

Hi @pearlnwashili nice work :) a couple notes for your next draft:
- Make sure to use the template, make no changes to the template objects, and export at 256x256 pixels
- The tiny speech bubbles are not easy to understand, I don't think they are adding to the design right now either, I think you can remove those
- I am not sure about "#1" on the flag. This badge is for folks working on the community outreach revamp... maybe you can add a symbol onto the flag to represent "revamp" or "community"

@dhairya15 very cute! I like the globe you added. Just one note:
- Right now the blue paws are kind of blending in with the blue of the background. Perhaps just try making the background a bit lighter? You could also try using the green background as this is a team member badge :)

Hi @riecatnor I effected the corrections you highlighted above.
I made slight changes to the background and decided to tweak the “revamp community “ concept based on your suggestion - I added a globe (got this idea from @dhairya15, I hope it’s okay :) ) with work tools (these in fedora blue for the “fedora effect” ) by the side to imply the revamp/ rebuild of the community as a task force (or revamp the world as in the graphics). I hope this works. I’m open to further corrections, kindly review. Thank you.
