#783 Create FWD 2020 Organizer/Volunteer badge
Closed: pushed 4 years ago by computerkid. Opened 4 years ago by jflory7.

Summary

Create new manually-awarded badge to commemorate the efforts of Fedora Women's Day 2020 Organizers

Background

Fedora Women's Day 2020 happened this past weekend. A lot of work went into it behind the scenes to pull off this year! We had a great team of volunteer organizers help us pull together the event. As a small token of appreciation, an Organizer badge would be a nice "thank-you" for the folks who were an important part of the less-visible work of event organizing and volunteering.

Details

The design should be a variant of the already-existing FWD 2020 Attendee badge (see #770 for more info). See here for SVG source.

The organizer badge should be visually distinguished from the Attendee badge. In the past, we used a panda as the main focus point, and pinned a mini version of the Attendee badge on the panda.

Outcome

A cute and friendly way to say thank-you to FWD 2020 organizers and volunteers

I'm happy to work on this

Hi @nasirhm still waiting on your comment

Hi @emem nice first draft :) I have a few pointers for designing badges.

Make sure to use the template files, found here: https://pagure.io/fedora-badges/issue/528
The file should not be altered, nor the elements that come in the template. You should make additions into the grey area in the middle of the badge.

When you submit a draft for review, please submit the SVG and a PNG. That way we can review the file right on the ticket.

The badges are viewed at a small size. Therefore, we try to avoid small details in the badge designs. The FWD logo is quite small, as well as the ribbon etc. I think it would be nice to model the badge after this artwork:
https://badges.fedoraproject.org/badge/flock-2016-organizer
You can find the source files here:
https://pagure.io/Fedora-Badges/issue/456

Thanks!

Just a note on the badge templates, they are now found in the Badges docs site. :)

I like this, but I don't get the final say on the artwork. :grinning: +1 from me though!

Hi @emem this looks great!

Two quick adjustments:

  1. Remove the "20" in the FWD logo to help make that part more clear. Add in "2020" similar to this badge -> https://badges.fedoraproject.org/badge/flock-2016-organizer

  2. The final png is off by a couple pixels, make sure you export "Page" not "drawing" in the export window and it is at 256x256 pixels.

Thanks!

@emem looks great! setting to approved :)

Nope, @emem it's done! The badge is now finished. Thanks for your help.

Oh Awesome! I'm glad to have been of help.
Thank you.

@computerkid does that mean I get to update my final application?

That's a question for @riecatnor . I've never looked into the whole outreachy thing.
