#124 Changing the design of the application's home page (Justify content, add blockquote, change font)
Closed: duplicate by jflory7. Opened by odinakajoy.

Summary

The font of the home page can be changed and justified

Background

A good font and well structured text in a website makes a user read on happily.

Details

The home page of a website needs to be well presented and structure so that users can stay long on the site. There are many fonts that can give the site a better look. Again, the tiny text that reads
"The feeling that you made a difference, that your work matters and has value, and that the people you work with are happy to work with you, is an awesome feeling. With Fedora Happiness Packets, we're trying to spread that feeling."
can be wrapped in blockquote or well using bootstrap or css to make it catchy. Assign the duty to me and I can make it better.

Outcome

Tha site will have a new, great and welcoming look

Please, I want to know if this issue is not worth checking up since nothing has been said about it. I am new here and I really think the User Interface of the site can be improved. Please let me know if it's not worth it so that i can check out others.

Hi @odinakajoy ,
It's great to see that you are eager to contribute

So firstly let me tell you a bit about this project.
fedora-happiness-packets is a fork of /mxsasha/happinesspackets which can be found here

So, the content placement, blockquotes and fonts are mostly following the same design cues as them.

Also, If we have a change that can benefit the upstream as well, we first submit a patch upstream and then apply it downstream.

@jflory7 will decide on how to proceed. ๐Ÿ˜„ ๐Ÿ˜„ ๐Ÿ˜„ ๐Ÿ˜„ ๐Ÿ˜„

Till then, you can look up other issues and try to contribute there :v: :v: :v: :v: :v:

@jonatoni and @jflory7 , I am Outreachy applicant and i would really love to work on and contribute to this task. Assign it to me if you can. thank you

Thank you. I felt my contribution was ignored. Noted with thanks

In that regards, how can one contribute to the project. Is there any other
functionality the team is looking at adding?
Thank you for your reply.

Hi @odinakajoy, thanks for being patient. fedora-happiness-packets mentors are volunteers and we're doing this alongside other full-time jobs and/or studying at universities. Because there are many interested applicants, it is difficult to get back right away to new issues and pull requests (there are a lot!).

During the community bonding period, I'm trying to ensure no longer than three days on replies to new tickets. Please be patient and I promise we are not intentionally ignoring anyone.

Is there a specific reason this change is necessary? Per the contributing guidelines, this change does not align closely to our project goals. I prefer to remain as close to the upstream project as possible.

I recommend looking at #100 and #103. Getting experience with fedora-messaging is useful because this will be an important part of milestones for an intern project.

Sorry, I just want to get clarification before raising another issue.
What about creating a drop down where users can easily select recipients of their choice to send the message from registered users on the platform and automatically, the recipients email address is also added to the field, thereby simplifying the process?
I f you deem it fit as an issue, please let me know. I can work on that.
Thank you

Secondly, I don't think the change in design proposal is far from the objective of this project -

'This could include fedora-messaging support, Fedora-related design changes, or integrating into other parts of the Fedora community'.

One of the reasons for web application is fresh look and content when users come around other than static content. For instance, adding an emoji that will pop up saying "Welcome + username, someone out there will appreciate a happiness package from you. Do you mind sending one?" and then a blinking 'SEND' button.
Don't you think it will add interactivity to the application?
Thank you

Thirdly, the Happiness archive page is empty. When I tried sending message to someone but was told I would complete it via email reply which I did not receive (Though someone is working on that). I also I ticked that my message can be published.
Is there a follow up on the receivers side to approve that the message be published. And is it really propagated? Because I believe many person must have sent messages and given approval to be published but the page is still empty?
Please check that out too.
Thank you

This is a good idea. #127 was already opened to track the idea. @alishapapun is currently working on an implementation.

I agree it is okay to make more changes about interactivity. However, this ticket was originally about changing the font. It will help me and the other mentors to understand what your ideas are about how to improve interactivity.

Could you edit the original ticket and make a list of the things you think should be changed? This way, everyone will be on the same page when they read through this ticket too. Currently, I'm not clear on what all your ideas are for this ticket, but I'm excited to know what they are.

I just raised another issue, if you deem it fit, you can close this one.
If the new issue is not accepted, can you please tell me any area in need of assistance so that I can check it out?
Thank you.

@odinakajoy We left some follow-up comments there, thanks for opening it. If you think the new issue should replace this one, feel free to close this.

I think most of these improvements were indirectly addressed by @phoenixabhishek's work on #139 and subsequent pull requests. I'm going to close this ticket as a duplicate of #139. :clapper:
