This isn't an area I'm overly familiar with, but I think a good starting place is for us to identify key content that would help make Fedora more accessible for language inclusion (then we can target making it more accessible). Questions we might want to consider answering…

• Where do people first get their start in Fedora? What platforms do people normally enter from?
• Where do people engage with Fedora before they might become a contributor? Social media, blogs, in-person at events?
  • We won't ever be able to answer this for sure, but we can figure out places to start by taking educated guesses
• Of the above identified methods, which ones of them are able to be translated (via Zanata)? What options are there to get some of this critical content into Zanata?

I think YouTube video captions are an awesome idea, although it is probably a minimal impact (since we don't thoroughly engage with followers / fans on YouTube). However, it was actually easy to engage with folks in other video translations, like @amsharma's video from FOSDEM on LibreOffice vs. proprietary office solutions. Someone looked for me intentionally to add video captions for Taiwan Chinese (these captions are there now). Even if the YouTube video captioning is manual, I think we can engage with Fedora translators to deliver more accessible content.

But to say again, I think YouTube would be a minimal impact, only because our social media strategy is weak for video content on YouTube.

I did some looking around. A good place to start here would be whatcanidoforfedora.org and join projects of different sub projects and SIGs it links to on wiki. While whatcanidoforfedora.org and wiki offers some support for different languages, it's bare minimum. A majority of widely spoken languages are not covered.

Additionally, we should also look into making Fedora Magazine and Community Blog posts more language inclusive. Would Wordpress have an option for automatic translations?

I agree that YouTube is minimal impact, but even if we have captions in a few major languages on YouTube, it should be okay.

I also think Fedora Classroom sessions should be available in different languages to have a wider impact.

I think it's important to note that having transcripts and closed captions available for videos will also make them accessible to people who are hearing impaired and people who have issues with sensory over load where too much sound is an issue for them.

I am curious if we can have Fedora CoC also written in various languages?

This is key. While the docs site is not ready to publish translations today, it has the capacity to work with the globalization teams via their existing workflow. I encourage us to think about how to interface with their existing workflow whereever possible so we don't have to build a new process/community to make this happen.
