this can be implemented using functionality in Mailman/Hyperkitty of auto response set while subscribing user.
@nikhilkathole do you want to contribute to this one :)

First let's write an onboarding/welcoming email and then implement it. @nikhilkathole can you please create a document and write the template there? Then it will be easier for us to comment and give feedbacks.
yes, @nikhilkathole you can take some content from our D&I mailing list welcome mails.

@nikhilkathole did you get sometime to start this one?

To help me understand, how will this be implemented? Is it possible to set up an auto-reply introduction in Mailman without replying to every email sent to the mailing list?
Maybe it is better to add some tips for newcomers as a page to our documentation site. Then a team member can send this along to someone in an introduction instead of remembering all the details to tell each new person who introduces themselves on our mailing list.
Some ideas for things to mention:
good first issue
Is anything else missing that @nikhilkathole could include?
Discussed in 2019-06-24 meeting.
Since @nikhilkathole is already working on FWD tasks, he was willing to share this one with @lbazan to help out with.
To the original idea, I think we can publish a new page on our Fedora Docs site, e.g. "Example email introduction template". We can point newcomers to this page in our on-boarding docs so they have an idea of things to include in their intro and to also let us know what their interests are.
I don't think we need to write a word-for-word template, but we can offer some suggestions on what to include in an email intro. Things like:
@lbazan This could be a new, short page on our docs, added here. Have you worked on a Fedora Docs project before? If not, let me know, I have a lot of helpful resources to help you get started.
Thanks for volunteering on this one!

@lbazan Did you have a chance to get started on this one? Would it help if I made a Google Docs page to start with? Let us know if we can be of any help here. :grinning:
@nikhilkathole are you still interested to take this up?
I think somewhere along the way, this ticket got mixed up with a page we already publish on our docs page:
https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/diversity-inclusion/get-involved/#self-introduction
