I want that the docs are up to date,

so that I'm not confused more than necessary.

The in-project documentation (living in doc/) has been…

• … evaluated as to whether or not its parts are still valid.
• … updated to reflect the current situation where necessary.

Background

We changed so many things, and the docs are still referring to the old ways largely.
