Fedora Infrastructure recently discovered that our new account system was not enforcing the correct constraints for new accounts. This allowed users to create accounts containing invalid characters.
The account system has been updated to properly enforce the correct constraints on new account. This includes, but is not limited to, forbidding: . _ one character accounts
These characters break some features of our account system, like web space on fedorapeople.org or openid authentication.
On 2022-01-31 (January 31st), we will be disabling these accounts.
This ticket is to track that work and also provide a verification for all the affected users who have been emailed to create new accounts.
