#10619 Convert the scaleway user account to an organization
Closed: Fixed 2 years ago by kevin. Opened 2 years ago by scaleway.

Describe what you would like us to do:

Hello could it be possible to convert https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/scaleway/ to an organization that can have several members? It would be easier to manage the different internal contributors that are in different teams within scaleway.

When do you need this to be done by? (YYYY/MM/DD)

I am not sure if this is possible.

@praiskup how does copr handle this when there's a group and a user with the same name?

Hello could it be possible to convert https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/scaleway/ to an organization that can have several members?

There isn't a direct way to convert projects to org, but there is the "fork" feature.
So you can create a copr group, and fork the project under your group.

It would be easier to manage the different internal contributors that are in different teams within scaleway.

There's a possibility to add users as administrators/builders to your project, too. Project => Settings => Permissions. Or copr-cli

edit-permissions Edit roles/permissions on a copr project
list-permissions Print the copr project roles/permissions
request-permissions

@praiskup how does copr handle this when there's a group and a user with the same name?

Groups are prefixed with @ symbol, so they do not collide.

Perfect, in that condition, could you create an organization for @scaleway and add me to it? I will add other people after to it.

Right, so we cannot create the group because there is a user with that name. ;(

Is there an alternative group name we could just use?

Can you delete the user name and create a group instead? I don't care about this account. I would prefer to have a group rather than a simple user.

Well, we can rename this user, can't we?

Well, in theory perhaps... but I think it will cause all kinds of confusion with history and what actions were done by the user vs the group, etc...

How about scaleway-group or scaleway-rpms or scaleway-packages ?

We don't have any history and/or actions at the moment. I think it is safer to have something simple with @scaleway. If you need to, feel free to erase all the data and recreate them from scratch. I would prefer to have simple names that are easier to find.

Well, sure there is history. Your comments on this very ticket. ;(

But ok, I deleted the user, but you will need to make a new account now for me to add to the group.

I'll send you a email directly also about this since you now won't get any email about this ticket.

CC: @oursin

I did mail you directly. is this you now from that account? Is that the one you would like added to the group?

Yes could you add oursin to the scaleway group please?

I've added oursin to the group and made the account a manager. ;)

Let us know if you need anything more here.
