#10827 Mailing lists configuration: An error occured: Unknown attribute: max_message_size
Closed: Fixed 2 years ago by kevin. Opened 2 years ago by kparal.

Describe what you would like us to do:

There seems to be some issue with the current mailing lists configuration web UI. For test-reports, I want to increase the maximum email size, because many of those reports are held for being too big:

    List: test-reports@lists.fedoraproject.org
    From: rawhide@fedoraproject.org
Subject: Fedora rawhide compose report: 20220723.n.0 changes

The message is being held because:

The message is larger than the 40 KB maximum size

But if I visit
https://lists.fedoraproject.org/admin/lists/test-reports.lists.fedoraproject.org/settings/message_acceptance
I see Maximum message size input box unpopulated, and if I try to set it to anything (including 0) and try to save it, I see an error printed:

An error occured: Unknown attribute: max_message_size

I believe I also saw similar errors on other pages when I tried to configure certain other values. It seems the web UI for mailman is incompatible/broken in some way? Currently I don't know how to configure the max message size, it seems I can't.

When do you need this to be done by? (YYYY/MM/DD)

No deadline, but I'll have to approve large emails every day :-(

Yep. This is a known bug in our mailman3 version. ;(

I can set it for you however...

devel list is set to 250k... is that ok?

I've set it to that, let me know if you want something else.

Ah, thanks. Doesn't seem to be enough, though:

    List: test-reports@lists.fedoraproject.org
    From: rawhide@fedoraproject.org
Subject: Fedora rawhide compose report: 20220725.n.1 changes

The message is being held because:

The message is larger than the 250 KB maximum size

I downloaded the message in the eml format and it has 9.7MB. I guess that's related to the mass rebuild? In that case we don't need to take it into account, but I'd still raise the limit to e.g. 1MB so that I don't need to babysit it unless it's a very special occasion. What do you think, it that an OK value, can you set it? Thanks.

Yes, the mass rebuild ones are vastly larger than normal ones. :)

1MB is a really big email... but ok.

Set it. ;)
