#10840 IPv6 routing not available for the mail redirection fas@fp.o
Closed: Will Not/Can Not fix 2 years ago by kevin. Opened 2 years ago by fantom.

Describe what you would like us to do:

The mail redirection fas@fp.o is handled by the server:

  • bastion.fedoraproject.org aka
  • bastion-iad01.fedoraproject.org [38.145.60.11]
  • there is a fallback server at 38.145.60.12

Actually, this server establish connection to my mail server (and others mail servers) using IPv4 routing. We can see that in the mail headers "Received:".

I would like you to provide IPv6 routing to that server, so it can establish IPv6 connections to final destination servers.

The IPv6 address should be stable because we (mail system administrators) need to whitelist it in the SPF check system.

When do you need this to be done by? (YYYY/MM/DD)

Can wait.

We would love to, but it's beyond our control.

There needs to be a upgrade of router equipment and then networking folks having time to set things up.

We have heard that they want to try and do that in coming months, but there's not a firm agreement to do it at any specific time. They need to get cycles and hardware available.

It's sadly not as simple as just enabling it. ;(

Sorry we can't do it today... I'll keep pressing on them to get it done.

I'm not sure it's worth it for us to track this here... as soon as ipv6 becomes available we will use it. ;)
