#9944 Generate AWS images for ELN composes
Closed: Upstream 2 years ago by kevin. Opened 3 years ago by jforbes.

Describe what you would like us to do:

Fedora CI has asked ELN to provide AWS images similar to what rawhide does. This was discussed during the last ELN SIG meeting and agreed that it would be a good idea. ELN composes have been reduced to once per day now.

Fedora CI Issue:
https://pagure.io/fedora-ci/general/issue/185

Fedora ELN SIG issue:
https://github.com/fedora-eln/eln/issues/19

When do you need this to be done by? (YYYY/MM/DD)

As soon as reasonable.

Any follow up or ETA on this?

No one has had any cycles to pick this up and look at it yet.

I'll ask around and see if anyone can. basically it means figuring out fedimg (we don't have anyone on the team who knows much about it)

I can take a look at this

hi, any update here? thanks

Looking at this and this, there's likely a VM somewhere running this fedimg service, which is listening for messages. Do we know where this service should be run? If not, does rawhide send images to AWS via fedimg? If so, that might give us a needed clue in how to do what's being asked.

@kevin do we know who would know the answers for these questions?

Yep. Me. ;)

We run fedimg on fedimg01.iad2.fedoraproject.org.

The problem is not deploying the service/app, we already have that. The problem is adding configuration to upload the ELN composes as well as the Fedora ones we are doing now. ;)

Ah, I see. I'll see what I can figure out configuration-wise. Do we know if anything else is successfully leveraging fedimg right now? That might help with figuring out what to do for ELN and Fedora.

Just pinging again for status.

I have some time now to work on it again. I can update it by Friday if I am not stepping over anyone else's work.

[backlog refinement]
Unfortunately nobody from infra had any spare cycles to work on this.

@davdunc Did you have time to look at it?

I did zlopez. We have a plan for images to Azure, GCP and AWS that will replace fedimg and give us more ease in adding the ELN images and a couple more. It's in progress. I'll remember to update the ticket as we get through it.

So, if you all are working on a solution, lets close this and you can open a ticket when/if you need anything from us?

ok, so I guess back into https://github.com/fedora-eln/eln/issues/19 where we should track the progress then?
