#127 Badges for classroom attendees
Closed: Invalid by alciregi. Opened by ankursinha.

@tanvi brought up badges for people that attend our classroom sessions.

As I've replied to their comment, we'll need to figure out a few things:

  • how to track users (especially when BlueJeans is used). We could open a ticket for each session and ask people to comment there for us to give them the badge? (It'll have to be done manually)
  • how do we track the number of sessions they attend as the badge series will probably be 1, 5, 10 and so on (we have this issue with badges for instructors also)
  • what do we do about people that aren't fedora community folks?

I like this idea.
* To track users, post session surveys. We can also learn and take feedback from them about our classroom sessions
* I will leave this part for the others to comment.
* I think this covers in first point. Not everyone is a part of fedora community and survey will help.

However , there are some queries:
* How can we provide batches to people who are not part of Fedora community / who doesn't own a fas account?
* Are classroom attendees batches really important at the moment?
* Will these batches increase the overall number of attendees?
* Will providing batches to them can encourage them to join fedora?

Bump.
I think that badges for attendees are not useful. And it tend to be a lot of manual work (for us and for the attendee).
We can, and we are awarding a badge for the instructor.
An attendee is someone that is interested to the topic.
I propose to close this ticket.

+1 for close as not feasible

Any other thoughts? @hhlp @hellbangerkarna

The problem here is the following, we can have to class of attender:

  1. A Fedora Communit memeber with FAS
  2. A normal person to attend the classroom

Who we can manage the second one?

Regards.,

The problem here is the following, we can have to class of attender:

A Fedora Communit memeber with FAS
A normal person to attend the classroom

Well, in this case a person could be invited to create a FAS account and enter in the wheel (start to look at the community and to contribute).

The problem is the efforts to assign a badge.
One badge for every classroom? (Absurd) One badge even if you attend 10 classrooms? (Has this sense?) People should ask for the badge or someone should take care of the list of the attendees? What if I leave after 10 minutes, I'm still eligible? And many other questions.
I mean, to much efforts for a badge where the level of contribution is pretty low. (Note: I mean, also attendees have an important role, in fact, a classroom without attendees is pointless but it worth so much work in order to grant a badge?).

+1 to close.

So, I'm going to close.
Feel free to reopen this ticket if you want.
