#135 Document how to make recording on non Gnome systems
Closed: Fixed by ankursinha. Opened by ankursinha.

We need documentation on how recordings can be made on non Gnome systems.

This is for GNOME https://fedoramagazine.org/screencast-gnome-extension/

Maybe outdated, but there are some ideas: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/ScreenCasting

Last updated in 2017, so very very likely that it's outdated. Could you check and remove the outdated bits?

A list of FOSS screen recorder software: https://itsfoss.com/best-linux-screen-recorders/

Yes, but it needs to be checked whether or not they are available on Fedora. We also need a tool that allows the use of a microphone. It isn't just about recording the screen---they're recording a class.

@thunderbirdtr : would you know any tools for screen recording (with mic input etc) that aren't Gnome specific?

there are few :

      * Green-Recorder via home_mhsabbagh repo
      * guvcview via rpmfusion
      * simplescreenrecorder via rpmfusion

@alciregi , altought that most of them are from Ubuntu

Cons : (not in repo or COPR)

  • Kazam not available for fedora
  • recordmydesktop not available for fedora found a COPR repo but to old) I think is decrapeted

The best :

  • Green-Recorder
  • simplescreenrecorder
