#261 New "How to Join Fedora" slide deck available
Closed: Fixed by riecatnor. Opened by riecatnor.

Hi folks- I revamped the "How to Join Fedora" slide deck originating in ticket 239[0] using the Fedora branded slide deck. I made some fair sized improvements, so I wanted to make sure I shared it back for others to use. Please review and let me know if you think changes are needed.

I made a couple notable changes to the content:
- I added in "How is Fedora organized?" section with the org chart and a description of Council/FEScO/Mindshare
- I added in a "Fedora Deliverables" page
- I organized the "How do I start contributing to Fedora?" section into "Coding" and "Non-Coding" roles

LGTM. :)

@t0xic0der I think we should:

  1. Add this to the Fedora Join Repo.
  2. Modify M.L Welcome template and add this to READ as a part of newcomers.

  3. What is Free Software: a quick video!

  4. Fedora's Mission and Foundations
  5. How to Join Fedora?
  6. Fedora's Current 12-18 Month Community Objectives
  7. Make your first steps in Fedora
  8. How to be a successful contributor

NOTE

I've deleted CoC and Org. Chart because are embeded in PDF.

Regards.,

@hhlp : I don't know if linking to the PDF in the welcome template is a good idea. The PDF picks up information from different places which are more likely to be kept up to date than the PDF itself (because the PDF will need to be updated each time something changes in the original place).

So I'd keep the welcome template as it is, or add links to other bits directly rather than to the PDF. The PDF can continue to be used at events.

Additionally: it's a bit cyclic to have "how to join Fedora" in the "welcome ticket" which is already part of the "how to join Fedora process". At the point someone has a welcome ticket opened, they've already started the process.

Thoughts?
