#2 Moving to Wayland by default
Closed: Fixed by ngompa. Opened by ngompa.

Wayland is the future for the desktop. The Workstation Edition has been using Wayland by default for five years now. We should switch to Wayland and make a good Wayland by default experience like Workstation offers.

Currently known Wayland bugs: Wayland Showstoppers

Blocker for me was Primary Selection Protocol (middle-click paste) support but this should be (partially?) done in 5.20 which will probably be in F33.

Change proposal submitted for Fedora 34: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Changes/WaylandByDefaultForPlasma

+1 from me. I have been using Plasma Wayland for 2+ years and trying to push it forward. I did lots of qt5-qtwayland backports and improvements so you can count me in, I will be glad to help.

The switch has been made for Fedora 34:

fedora-comps PR is still awaiting merge: https://pagure.io/fedora-comps/pull-request/538

This is all implemented now in time for Beta freeze.
