really weird, libksysguard is preinstalled but ksysguard is not.

ksysguard is a dependency for thermal monitor, a really nessecary plasma applet displaying CPU, GPU and more temperatures.

Without it is showed no resources, with it suddenly its full of sensors.

So lm_sensors and ksysguard are both needed for the full usage of system sensors.

This is pretty essential against overheating.

KSysGuard is a deprecated Plasma project. Plasma System Monitor has replaced it. See https://invent.kde.org/plasma/ksysguard

This thermal monitor you speak of should just be depending on the library which is still used from my understanding for Plasma System Monitor.

As for protection against overheating your hardware is ultimately responsible for that and if it's not doing it, it's poorly designed.
