#362 Discuss the new KDE Spin & Kinoite website
Closed: Fixed by ngompa. Opened by siosm.

Let's talk about the new website for the KDE Spin & Kinoite and look at what should be fixed there before we make it live and remove the older website (Kinoite) .

See: https://gitlab.com/fedora/websites-apps/fedora-websites/fedora-websites-3.0/-/issues/216

  • https://fedoraproject.org/spins/kde/ (live)
  • https://fedoraproject.org/kinoite/ ("hidden", i.e. not linked)
  • https://spins.fedoraproject.org/ -> Redirects to the new page

Feedback:
- Leading text should be improved/simplified
- Link to docs in community page
- Missing KDE mention in getting involved (https://kinoite.fedoraproject.org/get-involved/)
- Copy/paster MediaWriter for Download page: https://fedoraproject.org/workstation/download/

Duplicate download link (same for all pages) on the spin page. It's at the top of the page on the right and then a button not even a half page away.

I also feel the user avatar in the Kickoff screenshot should be the Fedora logo.

On the Kinoite page it says "Toolbx" isn't it Toolbox?

On the Kinoite page it says "Toolbx" isn't it Toolbox?

They had to rename it with an intentional misspelling to make it easier to search for / following a trademark complain IIRC.

Ah that sucks.

I've pushed some updates that have been merged and can be previewed at https://fedora.gitlab.io/websites-apps/fedora-websites/fedora-websites-3.0/kinoite/.

Feedback welcomed!

I've focused my effort on the Kinoite page to get it shipped and to remove the current website.

The KDE Spin page has not been updated yet.

We're OK with the design for the Kinoite page now so we can ship it!

We'll try to improve the KDE Spin page next.

Yay! Thank you! Releasing.

This has been done for a while, closing.
