#473 Qt6 compatibility for SDDM themes
Closed: Fixed by siosm. Opened by alebastr.

The necessary changes to the themes included with SDDM itself and the shared QML components were made in https://github.com/sddm/sddm/pull/1876 and will be shipped with 0.21.0 update.

We have a several packages with third-party themes that should be checked for compatibility and possibly fixed:

  • sddm-breeze — Plasma 6 theme, should be 100% ported.
  • sddm-wayland-sway — mostly taken care of. Will port remaining fixes myself.
  • lxqt-themes-fedora — a derivative of the maldives theme that needs porting the latest changes from sddm.
  • fedora-jam-kde-theme — all QML files are symlinks to ../breeze/*.qml. Needs testing, but should be fine with the addition of QtVersion to the metadata.
  • materia-kde — not tested.

sddm 0.21.0 is heading into Rawhide with adjustments to ensure Qt 6 is the default: https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/sddm/blob/a54a3ea11b601a5daad4ac35ffc6b8d1aad0b7ec/f/sddm-0.21.0-qt6greeter.patch

@lupinix can you give the fedora-lxqt SIG group admin rights to https://pagure.io/lxqt-themes-fedora/ ?

@eclipseo FYI about materia-kde.

Closing. This either happened or isn't relevant anymore. Themes are going away in Plasma Login.

SDDM is sticking around for everyone else, it's just not going to be relevant for Fedora KDE.
