#517 PowerPC Enablement: qt6-qtwebengine
Closed: Fixed by ngompa. Opened by timaeos.

From the Sig Meeting on 05/20/2024

The sig discussed that qt6-qtwebengine needs to be built for ppc64le.
**assignee: @jgrulich **

(Apologies, I'm a little fuzzy on the details as I was distracted when this discussion took place.)

This is basically synchronizing the ppc64le enablement patches from chromium to qt6-qtwebengine so that it can build for the architecture.

Looks like @sharkcz has this in a COPR: https://sharkcz.livejournal.com/15564.html

Maybe he can help out here for the official package...

I have documented the procedure for adding/rebasing the ppc64le support in qtwebengine in https://sharkcz.livejournal.com/14442.html. If we could have ppc64le in the official package it would be great and I am willing to help for sure.

I'm happy to add you as a co-maintainer to qt6-qtwebengine for this if you are interested.

Yes, please add me. Also I would welcome an initial review of the current state of the ppc64le support before opening a PR against qt6-qtwebengine. Or shall I start with a PR?

Start with a pull request, please.

I've added you to qt6-qtwebengine. Regardless, an initial pull request would be very helpful to getting started with ppc64le support.

I've also invited you to the Fedora KDE matrix room so you can coordinate or ask questions of us.

ok, will have to figure out my presence on matrix as their web UI is unfriendly to ppc64le, I believe it requires WASM which is not currently available in JIT-enabled Firefox ...

Maybe NeoChat would work for you? It's a native KDE application for Matrix chat. It's also part of the default application set for Fedora KDE.

PR opened in https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/qt6-qtwebengine/pull-request/9

This has been done successfully and released as part of F42 beta!
