The site "techrights.org" seems to have a feed which automatically posts links to all of our content and creates a "ping" comment for each. They're not actually commenting or adding any value. I don't want to fill up the actual comments with these pings (they are really just noise!), and I also don't want to have to reject them manually.
I guess that I could mark them as spam -- from google, the site looks like it was legit in the past but may have been taken over by someone, because I can't get legit content to load now and everything looks old.
In any case, I just want to block it. How can this be done?
There are two basic questions here, I guess. First, blocking that specific site. Second, a general solution. (If the second is "file a ticket when a particular site seems problematic", that works for me!)
I disabled pings and it should be working perfect now. I agree that pings were useless
Akismet handles the spam comments and deletes them automatically
Okay, that'll do. :)
Previously, it was really also the only easy way to tell if other posts were talking about us, but we have the stats module hooked up now, so that's better anyway.
