#11 BTRFS
Closed by computerkid. Opened by computerkid.

I think a great topic to talk about would be the recent shift to BTRFS as the main Filesystem for fedora. Obviously the best person to talk to would be @ngompa . We could either do this as a mini-interview for a news segment, or a big segment as an interviews episode. Thoughts?

Actually, another person to talk about it would be @chrismurphy. He knows quite a lot about this.

I'm happy to help.

@chrismurphy Awesome! What do you think about scheduling one hour the next week?

Works for me.

@chrismurphy when are you free?
We should get this record ASAP

Next few days are good. Also would help to have some questions in advance
to mull them over. More answers, less hem and haw.

That's great! We will put a date soon!

My first basic draft is:

  1. What is BTRFS?
  2. How is different from ext4?
  3. How is different from LVM over ext4?
  4. Use of tooling (du, df, mount, umount)
  5. New feature: BTRFS Compression
    • What it is?
    • Why it wasn't include it from the beggining?
  6. What's next?

Let's add to that, what are the main reasons why you would want to use BTRFS. And also maybe a quick BTRFS vs ZFS, which I'm sure will be on people's minds.

We can do it Sunday after 1:00 pm UTC -4, maybe Monday or Tuesday nights. So let us know @chrismurphy when it fits better for you.

How about Sunday 1500 UTC -4 ?

How about Sunday 1500 UTC -4 ?

Let's do it. In half an hour I think
