We would like to have the Power Management test day on 2011-03-24 (or maybe later). Such event would help us to test the PM functionality (especially suspend / hibernate and tuned profiles) across wide HW configurations. We are able to prepare detailed test instructions and scripts for test semi-automation. Feature page: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/PowerManagementF15
sounds great, go ahead and add it to the schedule :) are you aware of the SOP for managing a test day? did you want to do this yourself or have help from the QA team?
hi - it's less than two weeks before the planned date and I don't see that any planning has been done towards this event. do you think we can still run it next week or should we cancel or change the date of the test day? we can certainly help you set up the wiki page and test cases if you need help, just let us know. thanks!
Hi, thanks, I am just focusing on it. I would like to run it next week. It will be my first test day :) so any info/help is highly appreciated. I consulted the QA/SOP_Test_Day_management and the test day wiki template. I will set-up the first version of our wiki page soon (probably today) and I will do my best to finalize it till Sunday (if OK). I am going to prepare LiveCD for the event.
OK, so when you put up the page I'll review it and see if anything needs tweaking. The main work is usually in putting together the test cases, so make sure to budget enough time for that. You don't always need to provide custom live images: if you can get all the code you want tested into f15 'stable' by a day or two before the event, you can just direct testers to the nightly builds:

and save yourself the trouble.
Thanks, test cases should be finalized now. We will test them intensively during Monday. Feel free to change/improve anything (especially wording - I am not native speaker :). Any feedback is welcome. I will also try to create the live CD (on Monday).
I've posted announcements to my blog:
http://www.happyassassin.net/2011/03/21/power-management-test-day-on-thursday/
and to the forums:

would you like me to post to the mailing lists also, or would you like to do that?
Let me know also if you have any troubles building a live CD, it can be a bit tricky. Check and make sure you don't pull in the broken rsyslog package :)
Thanks, please post to mailing list. I am still working on the LiveCD, I will notify about the progress.
Could we ask laptop users to report whether their backlight control works? It affects some laptops using all of Intel i915, Radeon and nVidia cards, and there's a patch series from Matthew Garrett that, while not ready for merging yet, we might consider providing in a semi-blessed alternate kernel repo, similar to what Ubuntu is doing.
I posted this to the test@ list: http://lists.fedoraproject.org/pipermail/test/2011-March/098070.html
Thanks!
I think no problem to add this test case, I will update the wiki.
The LiveCD is ready and seems to work on my testing machines, I will update the wiki accordingly.
Wiki updated. Feel free to change/improve the text. One more problem spotted: the results table seems to be too big for average display and there is no horizontal scrollbar (in my firefox).
This happened ages ago:
