#490 F25 Fedora Media Writer as Primary Downloadable test day
Closed: Fixed None Opened 7 years ago by sumantrom.

A major F25 feature is a rewrite of liveusb-creator which may become the primary download for Workstation (so instead of an ISO file, you'd get the liveusb-creator app from the Workstation download page). However, we did a test day in F24 cycle but this would be a great topic for a Test Day as we will be running it for Windows and OS X this time.

The Change test plan as written asks to start the testing process with the website. I'd like to suggest that, given the Websites team may need the time to finish their side, we defer that testing to the Websites team. (I think they're accustomed to testing that e.g. buttons on the site do what they're supposed to.) That gives them a little more time for their work before F25 Beta release, although I would expect completion in time for the standard F25 Beta readiness meeting.

So we have a test instance running in staging. The website should recognize the OS users are running and propose the right binary. If wanted, people can also choose to to get other versions of FMW.

Note: no worries, we will change the ''Alpha'' with ''Beta'' before the test day starts.

Thanks, I updated the download link in the test case.

robyduck, mbriza: satellit reports the installers from https://stg.getfedora.org/en/workstation/prerelease/ are non-working, but these ones work https://github.com/MartinBriza/MediaWriter/releases/. Are there older releases on the website?

We need to resolve this ASAP, because tomorrow is the test day. Which links should we use?

And mbriza, can you please start putting a version number into the installer filename? We had these issues in the past and it's just too much pain to have unversioned installers, it wastes a lot of QA time. Please start versioning them, thanks.

I updated the github builds (which should be used for testing tomorrow) with version numbers.

Great, thanks. According to our discussion on #fedora-devel, I changed the download links back to github.

Websites also use github download links now, and state has been set correctly to Beta. (live in an 45 minutes more or less)

The event went off successfully and we had a great response, thanks everyone! Report was mailed out: https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/test@lists.fedoraproject.org/message/WYQ46MW43UQH7IC4QFD53RT46JKNUUUN/
