#50 Proposed Test Day - YumLangpackPlugin
Closed: Fixed None Opened 15 years ago by rhe.

[https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/YumLangpackPlugin YumLangpackPlugin] is an i18n feature in F-13. Jens and I have decided to hold this test day on Feb 25th. Currently this feature has finished development. Jens has also marked this event into calendar. Next, the event wiki page, requirements and test cases should be prepared for this test day.

Hi all, I've made a draft of the [https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Test_Day:2010-02-25_YumLangpackPlugin test event page]. Please refer to it. Now I'm doing some tests for it and try to figure out the test cases. Any suggestion is welcomed. Thanks.

Test day page has been updated: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Test_Day:2010-02-25_YumLangpackPlugin.

The cases are created under my testing. As far as I tested, the langpack plugin is affected by the system language, not by groupinstall 'language support' nor desktop environment. So live image is not helpful as reboot is needed when changing system language.
[[BR]]
I'm not sure if there's other ways to affect langpack-plugin without reboot or install.

Jens, can you review it please? Thanks.

Thanks - I will review and check it today.

As far as I tested, the langpack plugin is affected by the system language

No it is determined by the current locale - of course default desktop locale is
the system locale. Why do you think it is set by the system locale?

I made some tests on F12 system. This system was en_US. [[BR]]
[[BR]]
1. I groupinstalled 'Chinese Support' on this system. After that when I yumed, the langpack still added en_US to language list. [[BR]]
[[BR]]
2. Then I logged out and changed the desktop language to Chinese from gdm on login. Then I yumed, but the langpack still added en_US.[[BR]]
[[BR]]
3. The only way I could add zh_CN to list in yum is to change the system language from system-config-language and reboot. Then the packagename_zh can be searched out and installed.[[BR]]

Do I get sth wrong? How to change 'Current locale' as you mentioned? Thanks.

Ahh, I see... When I changed desktop language, it took effect for only this user. But yum need be executed using root while root still used original locale.

So how about modifying the cases as: execute "export LC_ALL="zh_CN.UTF-8" by root, and then test yum?

I further updated [https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Test_Day:2010-02-25_YumLangpackPlugin testday page] The case above has been changed to login to another language. Please review them. Thanks.

Test cases were changed again based on discussion with Jens. keep the schedule so I've sent the announcement and changed the current:test day to yumlanpack Plugin.

Test day was over. Thank Jens and James!
