#717 kernel 6.1 test (partial) week
Closed: Fixed a year ago by sumantrom. Opened a year ago by jforbes.

Owner: Justin Forbes
Time Frame: 3rd Jan to 7th Jan
Features: Kernel 6.1 rebase

As discussed at Flock, we will start hosting test days for each major kernel rebase (approximately every 8-10 weeks). It was discussed that we should extend this to a test week, to allow time for more participants. They have been incredibly helpful so far. As the 6.1 kernel is now released, I would like to get a test week in before we push the rebase to stable releases. I will have ISOs for USB images so that users can test on bare metal or in VMs, and the kernel will be available in the stabilization repo for users who wish to install it on existing systems.

Unfortunately, there is no great time for this one, but I would like to get some wider feedback before the rebase, even if we don't have the advertising or participation that we typically do. Test week should technically be next week (Dec 25-31), but I would hate to make people feel obligated to take time to deal with that, nor do I particularly want to manage it that week, so this is what we are left with. While I appreciate help with the set up, I do not expect or want anyone to take time away from family or vacation.

Can you give me a heads-up by when should we expect the image?

I will have the first images up on the 2nd at least

@jforbes, can you please update the ticket with your final thoughts and stats about the test half-week?

I am pleasantly surprised. We had a total of 376 tests run from 104 different testers. This was a great success considering it was a partial week right after holidays. Thanks for getting this all together!
