This issue helps the QA team to take in test day request and put them on a release cycle. We might have a few follow up after a proposal is made.

@kalev @otaylor , feel free to update this during the course of this release

it would probably be good to plan this for after X.org is dropped from the lives, assuming that Change goes ahead, so we can catch any impacts of that.

@adamw, I think Xorg dropped is a big change and needs to be tested in a more refined way. @kparal and I met yesterday and we have some scenarios to believe this should be a separate test day before GNOME test week.
Here are some things that have come up and we believe we need more clarity and testing (possibly both)

  • Workstation Wayland-only test day - different hardware - specifically non-x86 (arm, iot) devices, virtualization providers/apps, screen sharing, basic graphics mode, app compatibility

@kparal , please add your thoughts and @adamwill , lemme know how you feel?

Yes, we had a feeling that people might be using X11 for many corner cases we're currently unaware of, so a quick one-day test day for "X11 missing" would help us separate those problems from a general "new GNOME" test day/week.
