Backup and restore is another important feature of FreeIPA. ipa-restore must restore a fully working IPA server from a backup. You can easily test it in four steps:

  • ipa-server-install
  • ipa-backup
  • ipa-server-install --uninstall --unattended
  • ipa-restore /var/lib/ipa/backup/*

ipa-restore needs the DM password.
