As discussed at the 2017-07-17 QA meeting , it may be a good idea to have the validation event announcement mails sent to more mailing lists (perhaps even with tweaked content for each list) in order to get testing from more groups. We did used to do this, to some extent, when announcing events manually.
As well as code changes, this may require checking with the admins of relevant lists if it's desired, and getting the posts whitelisted somehow.
Target lists would be, e.g., desktop, kde, xfce and maybe the other desktop lists, server, cloud, and atomic (if there's a separate atomic list, I'm not sure).
oh hey, this would still be a good idea! but also, should send announcements to discourse as well as email.

so we're now sending to test-announce, test, devel, server, kde and workstation (for regular composes), and test-announce, test and iot (for IoT composes). haven't done the discourse thing yet. Gonna close this and create a new ticket for discourse.
