#56 Put a banner on draft events
Opened by kparal. Modified

When a test day page is still in a draft form, put a big banner at the top, so that people are aware of it. Write something like that they still should wait with submitting results until the page is finalized and officially live.

Oh, it also seems that draft events are currently only visible to admins on the main page https://testdays.fedoraproject.org . I would make them visible to everyone, because we link to that page saying "See current Test Day schedule". The events are often marked as drafts just days before the event being live. It would be better if people could see an upcoming test day more far ahead, even when it's not finalized yet.

But if we do that, is there any practical difference between a draft and non-draft test day any more?

The difference is that one is ready and the other is not

Functionally, they would be the same, you can post results even to the draft one. We could prevent submitting results (to non-admins at least) to draft events... I don't have a strong opinion on that, it makes sense, but if the banner is clear enough, it might not be needed? Shrug.

The point is that the draft event is very likely to change, so existing results could be lost anyway. And even the test instructions are likely not finalized yet.

My motivation is that https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/QA/Test_Days has "See current Test Day schedule" link to https://testdays.fedoraproject.org/ , but you don't actually see the full schedule there, because drafts are hidden. As opposed to https://calendar.fedoraproject.org/list/QA/?subject=Test+Day , but that is less pretty to look at.
