#239 NVIDIA driver installation path gone from GNOME Software
Closed: Fixed 3 years ago by aday. Opened 3 years ago by aday.

GNOME Software has been redesigned for GNOME 41 / Fedora 35. One unintential side-effect of this is that the previous "add-ons" category is now missing from the front page. This has previously been used as the way to get to the page for the NVIDIA proprietary driver, which is documented in Lenovo's user support.

You can still search for the NVIDIA driver and find it that way.

The upstream ticket for this is gnome-software#1384. It would be good to try and resolve this for F35, but if that's not possible, then as a minimum we should let Lenovo know about the situation so they can update their docs.

There is a fix for this waiting upstream: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-software/-/merge_requests/940

All the maintainers are currently on vacation and it seems that there's a small adjustment that needs to be made. @mcrha , could you help when you're back?

Thanks Milan, I see the changes in the latest development build.

We probably still need to let Lenovo know about the UI change, so they can update their docs. Does anyone know the best way to do that?

We can ping Mark Pearson from Lenovo about it (markpearson@lenovo.com). CC. @mattdm

Thanks, I've sent Mark an email.

Lenovo now have the information they need, so closing this.
