#397 Consider swapping Loupe back for EOG for F39 Final
Closed: Won't fix a year ago by catanzaro. Opened a year ago by kparal.

We've discovered that Loupe, a new default (and only) image viewer in upcoming F39 Workstation, crashes each time you try to print a picture (well, at least for me):
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/loupe/-/issues/237

It was rejected as a release blocker:
https://pagure.io/fedora-qa/blocker-review/issue/1346

While not a release blocker, I still find it quite concerning that F39 Workstation will be unable to print a picture (unless you install a different image viewer, or perhaps realize that a possible workaround is to open the picture in Firefox and print from there).

I think it would be good to have a discussion whether Loupe introduction shouldn't be delayed until the printing bug is resolved, and whether EOG should be brought back as the default image viewer in the meantime.

(I also found one another issue in Loupe - it doesn't display the image dimensions properly when fractional scaling is set (e.g. 125%), zooming the picture to 100% doesn't display the picture at the correct scale and makes it blurry, unlike EOG - but I haven't reported that bug yet, and I don't think this one is that severe as the printing one).

We discussed this issue at today's workstation call. @mclasen is going to pursue it upstream and we'll discuss again next week.

I fixed the GTK bug causing this crash, and will backport the fix now.

I raced with Kalev. Thanks, Kalev. ;)

No problem - thanks for figuring out the fix! :) gtk4-4.12.2-3.fc39 and gtk4-4.12.2-3.fc40 builds are under way for both F39 and rawhide.

I confirm that Printing to File works now. I have not been able to test the crash so far.
