#2588 F35 Change: "Fedora Linux" in /etc/os-release
Closed: Accepted 4 years ago by zbyszek. Opened 4 years ago by bcotton.

"Fedora" is the name of our project. Our general-purpose Linux distribution is "Fedora Linux". Let's refer to it that way in the OS itself.

There does not seem to be a consensus on the list whether we want this name or not, but that is not a technical decision. I'd like to delegate the decision to the council.

-1 to prevent autoapproval until the council gives their blessing.

Council approved this in last week's face-to-face.

Given the Council's decision, I think the only thing for us to do is update the os-release file, yes? I can do that, assuming we approve this Change.

+1

Council approved this in last week's face-to-face.

I only see (+9,1,-0) in the full meeting log. Where did the voting actually happen? Was there a discussion about the topic?

As @bcotton said, it was done in a (presumably virtual) face-to-face meeting. That means that the meeting log is a minutes log from that meeting, rather than direct conversations.

Meh. I don't like it. But if our BDFL and the Council want this, I won't block it. ±0

To clarify, I don't like it either. There were several people on the devel list who provided non-troll arguments against this and I don't think they were ever given the answers (example). That's why I am a bit disappointed that the council decision was only logged as number of votes.

But, I recognize council as the authority here, hence I voted +1. This is not a technical decision.

I currently count (+7,0,-0), but the ticket is currently at 6 days. Not expecting a change here, but we've got out rules.
