Hello,
in the context of this announcement from last week:
https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/devel@lists.fedoraproject.org/thread/TU5T67HX2VQDNFXDFUDWRMIUQT6LYGMG/
I'd like FESCo's blessing to retire the following packages from f39 and rawhide (links go to bugzillas):
Packages with Fedora 39 Bodhi updates will be skipped (and I will request freeze exceptions for them if the maintainers won't).
I'd like to do this on Friday. Hence I'm requesting fast track here.
As explained in the linked email, package retirement is not a "punishment" for not fixing the package, it is merely a way to allow our users to upgrade to Fedora Linux 39. When a retired package is fixed after Fedora Linux 39 final release, it can be added back to the distribution.
Thanks

python-logutils removed from the list, has an update.
I have fixed the build of python-smbpasswd for python 3.10+
Hello @churchyard - I fixed also the build of the dionaea for python 3.12+
Removed dionaea and python-smbpasswd from the list, requested freeze exceptions.
Maintainers of freecad, python-pyside2, and python-geomet seem to be on board with the retirement.
Maintainers of python-mathics3 and python-mathicsscript seem to be trying to figure out a fix.

As requested during the meeting, @dcavalca is working diligently to fix the mathics packages and thinks he's almost there. He's asked for us to avoid retiring those as part of this.
From the meeting, this is APPROVED (+7,0,0). @dcavalca would like the mathics packages excluded if possible so he can finish fixing the,
