#3276 Retiring 1 package without a Python 3.13 rebuild from Fedora 41+42
Closed: Accepted 6 months ago by ngompa. Opened 6 months ago by ksurma.

Hello,

we'd like to retire following package from Fedora 41 and Rawhide, as it wasn't successfully rebuilt with Python 3.13 (the main Python of F41):

python-datadog

As usual, package retirement is not a "punishment" for not fixing the package, it is merely a way to allow our users to upgrade to Fedora Linux 41. When a retired package is fixed after Fedora Linux 41 final release, it can be added back to the distribution.

Thank you!

What makes the packages special is that the bugzillas are not NEW, so they avoid point 10 of https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/fesco/Fails_to_build_from_source_Fails_to_install/#_package_removal_for_long_standing_ftbfs_and_fti_bugs -- but effectively the bugzillas are not being handled.

+1. I hope we can fix them, but retiring them before Final is appropriate.

Mayavi is being fixed (waiting for vtk build to finally finish), but the other one remains.

The ticket has been edited to remove Mayavi.

Considering the freeze is tomorrow, I'd like to encourage more folks to vote. Thank you.

Let's fast track this. FESCO members, please vote.

This will be approved tomorrow unless somebody votes against it. No need to fast-track.

Hey, we successfully applied the fast track rule. A small victory worth celebrating.

python-datadog is retired in rawhide and f41:

So this is done. Please include a note about the retirement in the announcement.
