#6507 Refactor the codebase configuring replication agreements
Closed: wontfix by rcritten. Opened by mbabinsk.

The code responsible for setting up replication agreements during replica install ((CS)ReplicationManager) is very hard to navigate, confusing, full of copy-pasted snippets and unused code. This makes finding and fixing bugs in the initial replication setup unnecessarily complex and significantly lowers its maintainability.

We should devise a plan to clean up and simplify the codebase in order to reduce technological debt and to improve extensibility and maintainability. This may require a substantial documentation effort regarding relevant workflows which are used to set up domain/CA replicas.
