In ticket 9103 we created parity between the errors XML-RPC and JSON clients.

During the https://github.com/freeipa/freeipa/pull/6159 PR review a question was asked about the usage of quiet and that perhaps it too is inconsistent.

We should evaluate the usage of --quiet to ensure that per the man page ipa-join only displays errors and no other output.
