I have been thinking recently that we might want to look into moving away from an embedded admin system to an API-based admin panel.
This would make heavy use of the OpenID Connect features that we have now, and it would turn the admin panel into a separate web application, which would authenticate against the backend via API calls.

This would need thorough design and discussion.
