I'm looking to start a Fedora Flatpak Packaging SIG and would like to have the IRC channel, #fedora-flatpaks registered under the Fedora umbrella and get a matching Matrix room linked to it as well.

Could someone help with the channel registration and the Matrix room creation please? Thanks!

For the Matrix room, I'd suggest the same name, fedora-flatpaks:fedoraproject.org - this would be a channel specifically for fedora produced flatpaks and not a generic flatpak channel.

Usually, the fedora- prefix is stripped for Matrix bridged rooms. E.g. #fedora-devel -> #devel:fedoraproject.org and #fedora-golang -> #golang:fedoraproject.org. Are you sure you want to diverge from this convention? I think it'll cause confusion.

I am not sure. I thought it would make sense to name it "fedora-flatpaks" to signify that this is a room about fedora produced flatpaks, but perhaps it would indeed be just confusing.

Since the matrix room is on :fedoraproject.org, it doesn't make sense to prepend 'fedora-' on it.
However we do use "Fedora " in the display name.

on irc it does, because it's a flat namespace. :)

So:

irc: #fedora-flatpaks
matrix: #flatpaks:fedoraproject.org (with a display name of 'Fedora Flatpaks')
