#372 Election interview questions - Mindshare (F37)
Closed: Moved 2 years ago by bt0dotninja. Opened 2 years ago by bcotton.

In order to move forward with the next election, we need to determine which mandatory questions the Mindshare committee would like to have asked of candidates.

We need the Mindshare committee to please identify the questions before 2022-11-30 so we can properly communicate them to candidates and so they enough time to answer them.

In case the selection is not complete by 30 November, I will use the same set of questions as the last election cycle:

  • What is your background in Fedora? What have you worked on and what are you doing now?
  • Please elaborate on the personal "Why" which motivates you to be a candidate for Mindshare.
  • How would you improve Mindshare Committee visibility and awareness in the Fedora community?
  • What would you like to contribute to the Mindshare committee during your term?

Some additional questions are listed in the wiki, or you may come up with new ones.

First of all this questions are LGTM to me and in addition to that people may think certain areas may require more attention, IMO one extra question I would of think is

  • During your Mindshare term which part of Fedora do you think need most attention ?

(Example : It can be maybe marketing or ambassadors or diversity) but of course it is open to answer anything so I just give couple of example randomly

I think that we should look at the two questions
1) What would you like to contribute to the Mindshare committee during your term?
and
2) During your Mindshare term which part of Fedora do you think need most attention?
then, make a decision between them. If I think something needs more attention, then I should also believe that it is what I should be working on during my term. Honestly, I found it difficult to focus on what I would like to contribute when there were so many tickets coming in for consideration and planning sessions to attend. I would like to see the question 2 replace the question 1 in this case.

I think revising the What would you like to contribute question with the which part of Fedora needs most attention question. From my time as a volunteer, I can relate with what @davdunc writes here that sometimes what you personally want to do is not always what ends up happening, especially if you are a first-time Committee member.

The deadline for this was yesterday and I learned that both candidates already completed their interviews using last round's questions. So, this revision will not apply to the current election cycle.

However, let's go ahead and put in this change now so it will be reflected in the next Mindshare election. Here is the proposed question to replace question 4:

During your Mindshare term, which part of Fedora do you think needs the most attention?

Let's start a vote in our scheduled meeting today.

Discussed in 2022-12-01 meeting.

We discussed this in the meeting and finalized the revised question for the next election round:

What part of Fedora do you think needs the most attention from the Mindshare Committee during your term?

@bcotton Could you remind me where the election question data is stored? Is there somewhere we can update this for next time?

This ticket is the best place. I look at the previous cycle's tickets when creating new ones.
