I have been a Fedora packager for years and think I could use the acquired knowledge
to help people become Fedora packagers.

I am the primary point of contact for 82 packages in Fedora and co-maintainter for 40 more. I'm also maintainer or co-maintainer for a handful of packages in RPM Fusion.

I've been lobbying people in the company I work for for years to get
them more into properly packaging stuff and work with upstream, be it
developers or Fedora/EPEL. It more or less worked, as a (tiny) part of
my time is devoted to helping where I can with FOSS, but we certainly
have a lot of room for improvement.

There is an opportunity now to go further down this road and a colleague
of mine submitted its first package for review and is awaiting for a
sponsor. I've mostly been doing the sponsor job for him, but we need a "real" sponsor now.

I have good hopes this is only a start and we can do much
better in the months/years to come. However, finding a sponsor is not an
easy task, and management is already finding it's taking too much
time... I know the reasons, and I know there's no way to short-circuit
the process, but I'd hate the effort to be shot down, so I though becoming a sponsor might be a good solution.
That indeed doesn't mean I let pass low quality packages thru. My personal Fedora involvement pre-dates my profesionnal one, and my Fedora duties are done on my spare time, so I'll do what's good for Fedora, not what $dayjob think is good.

I hope you'll find me worthy of sponsor duties.
